The Seattle area’s retail story is rich with history and innovation, whether it’s been written at Nordstrom for more than a century or inside a new cashierless Amazon Go store. Anko is looking for a chapter of its own.

The lifestyle retailer from Australia, which has opened five stores in the Seattle region in the past year, has a new digital pop-up store north of the city at Alderwood Mall in Lynnnwood, Wash. It combines the experience of in-person browsing with the convenience of online shopping.

The digital pop-up allows shoppers to use their smartphones to scan the “kangaroo code” on a variety of Anko brand items in home decor, dining, table top, apparel and storage. Items can be added to a digital cart and then picked up at a nearby store or delivered.

Anko’s flagship store is also located in Lynnwood, where 108 people are employed at the company’s headquarters. Other retail locations are in Burien, Bellevue Square Mall, Kirkland and Mill Creek Town Center.

Shoppers lured by the pop-up technology can also participate in a sweepstakes drawing for a chance to win a 10-minute shopping spree at the Lynnwood store.

The Alderwood Mall pop-up is located at 3000 184th St. SW, space 554, and will run through Dec. 24.
