LivePerson, a company whose messaging platform helps businesses communicate with customers, has a message for Seattle: they’re setting up shop in South Lake Union.

LivePerson announced Tuesday that it is expanding to Seattle with the creation of a 40,000-square-foot North American Advanced Technology Center. A news release said that the center, to be located in the Alley 24 office building, will be “home to world-class engineering, machine learning, design and product management teams.”

It’s the latest out-of-town tech company to open an office in the Seattle region, joining more than 100 others tapping into the rich talent pool.

The Seattle office will collaborate with teams already located in New York, Atlanta, and Mountain View, Calif., as well as across the globe in the U.K., Germany, Italy, Israel, France, Japan, Australia and Netherlands. LivePerson focuses on “conversational commerce” for some of the leading brands in the world.

The company announced the addition of two tech executives to its Seattle leadership team. Joe Bradley will serve as chief data scientist. He previously led data science globally for Nike’s brand and digital marketing functions, as well as the AI-based features in Nike’s digital experiences.

Alan Gilchrest will be the senior vice president of core services and developer experience. Gilchrest previously led core product and technology teams for Alexa and Kindle at Amazon and within the tech giant’s retail and supply chain businesses. At LivePerson, he will build out the company’s conversational commerce platform to create ongoing connections between customers and brands.

“Seattle is home to some of the best tech talent, which is why we chose to expand our U.S. footprint and build our North American Advanced Technology Center here,” CTO Alex Spinelli, another Amazon and Alexa vet, said in a news release. “Joe and Alan are two of the best in their respective fields, and having them at the helm of this office will help ensure that we onboard the best talent.”

Employees will start moving into the space at the end of the month. There are 23 job openings for Seattle posted on the LivePerson careers site.
