Cory Bergman, co-founder of Factal.

We’re excited to return to Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood next week for a live recording of the GeekWire Podcast, with special guest Cory Bergman, the media entrepreneur who recently launched news alerting service Factal with fellow veterans of BreakingNews.com and NBCNews.com.

You’re invited to join us in the audience! This special recording, hosted by Monica Nickelsburg, GeekWire’s civic innovation editor, and me, will take place from 6 p.m. to approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Ballard NeighborHub (5601 22nd Ave NW).

We’ll talk with Bergman about the changing media landscape, plus the role of facts and news in our current national political climate, and get an inside look at the launch of Factal, and what’s next.

We’ll also talk about the tech-fueled transformation of Seattle over the past decade. Bergman has a special connection to Ballard, in particular, as the co-founder of Next Door Media, a network of community news sites that started with MyBallard.com. The site was launched in 2008 by Bergman and his wife, Kate, better known to readers as the “Geeky Swedes.”

Join us for a great conversation, plus fantastic appetizers and drinks. A big thanks to sponsor Columbia Bank for making this event possible. Tickets are $5 each, and proceeds will be donated to the Ballard Boys and Girls Club. Email us at events@geekwire.com with questions.
