Oh, K! This is just the thing we need to jump start a Monday morning.
The new trailer for “Blade Runner 2049” hit the internet on Monday, and it’s a beautiful as anyone who loved the first film could have hoped.
Ryan Gosling stars as LAPD officer K in a futuristic setting which manages to eclipse the grim nature of “Blade Runner,” set 30 years earlier in 2019. The trailer’s YouTube description says K has unearthed “a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos” and that his “discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
“Every civilization was built off the back of a disposable workforce,” says Jared Leto, who stars as some sort of replicant creator. “Happy birthday,” he coos to a newly “birthed” android.
Dark and rainy Los Angeles and a dusty orange Las Vegas are the key locations in the film directed by Denis Villeneuve and produced by Ridley Scott.
“Blade Runner 2049” is in theaters Oct. 6.
