Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready keeps revealing himself to be quite the Renaissance man. Just weeks after playing tennis with Bill Gates and Roger Federer, the rocker will host an event at Seattle radio station KEXP to showcase a new book of his photography.

“Of Potato Heads and Polaroids: My Life Inside and Out of Pearl Jam” is McCready’s collection of images he took traveling the world with the famed Seattle band. Through years of touring, McCready was able to capture friends, strangers, celebrities and more — and he would often ask them to pose with the popular toy Mr. Potato Head.

The book also contains intimate images of Pearl Jam behind the scenes as well as nature and architecture photographs.

KEXP, in partnership with Seattle’s Elliott Bay Book Co., will host a discussion, Q&A and book signing at its Seattle Center Gathering Space on May 30 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

McCready will take part in a 30-minute discussion with KEXP’s Kevin Cole and the event will be streamed live on Pearl Jam’s Facebook page. A selection of images from the book will be on display in the gathering Space for a month.

A second event will take place in New York in the Rare Book Room at Strand Books on June 7.

“Of Potato Heads and Polaroids” is available for pre-order on Pearl Jam’s website and on Amazon.
