How did life evolve on Earth? What other planets could be home to life? And how do humans and other living beings impact the planets they live on?

Dr. David Grinspoon has asked himself these questions many times over. Grinspoon’s work brings together studies of geology, climate, and astrobiology to examine how humans and Earth have impacted each other, and how human-driven changes to the Earth could play out far into the future.

Grinspoon will discuss what we can learn from the Earth and other planets at this month’s “Science in the City” lecture, taking place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. He will dive into how a study of planets could help humans build more sustainable civilizations, as well as the implication of this work on SETI, the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence.

This all-ages event includes a lecture by Grinspoon, as well as an audience Q&A. Learn more about Science in the City and purchase tickets for this event here.
