The Friday before the long holiday weekend was probably a play day of sorts for folks who were still stuck at work. At Amazon that looked especially true as thousands of children descended on the tech giant’s Seattle campus for the company’s first ever “Bring Your Kids to Work Day.”

Dogs are daily guests at Amazon, and last fall the parents of employees got to a chance to be wowed by the work that goes on there. So it was only a matter of time before kids got an invite.

More than 8,000 children participated in activities across the urban campus, including a science fair with drones and robots, arts activities, writing and coding classes, story time with LeVar Burton, and more.

“This is kind of cool. Because there are activities you feel like you’re getting engaged and being a part of something,” one young girl said in a video highlighting the event. “Like you’re working with your parents in a way, which is cool.”

Another girl said, “I ate a banana!” as she was clearly impressed with the Amazon Community Banana Stand offering the free fruit.

The video also shows a quick glimpse of CEO Jeff Bezos in the crowd as he says the word “robot.”
