Starting today, the Amazon Treasure Truck is hitting the streets of Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston.
Amazon first debuted the Treasure Truck in Seattle in February 2016. The quirky vehicle, which has been compared to an ice cream truck for grown ups, offers one discounted item at a time, selling everything from steaks to GoPros. Customers can get notifications via the Amazon app when the truck is going to be nearby.
Today marks the first time Amazon has expanded its Treasure Truck concept beyond its hometown of Seattle, with the exception of a stop in Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show.
In January, Amazon won a patent for the Treasure Truck, covering the ornamental design of the heavily modified Isuzu cab-over truck.
Amazon plans to continue expanding the roving flash deals mobile to additional cities across the U.S. You can sign up for notifications about when the Treasure Truck is headed your way by following these instructions.
Update: Amazon timed its Treasure Truck expansion by selling a one-of-a-kind product: the elusive Nintendo NES Classic Edition. The console sold for $60; it’s selling for $200 or more online.
Apparently @amazongames found another stash of #NESClassic for the @treasuretruck. I got a ton of errors in app but finally got an order! pic.twitter.com/UOvlW2djUD
