Before he was wooing princesses, chartering Jedis, and helping rebels save the galaxy, Han Solo had a few adventures of his own.
Disney and Lucasfilm see that untold story as an opportunity. An untitled Star Wars spinoff about Han’s early days is in the works, according to Variety. The report notes that Dave Franco, Miles Teller, Jack Reynor, Ansel Elgort, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen, and Blake Jenner, are all on the shortlist to play the lead.
The spin-off takes place about 10 years before fans first met Han, according to Star Wars screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.
“You know, he’s younger in this movie and that’s fun because you have to imagine him 10 years earlier in his early 20s,” he told The L.A. Times. “What was he like before he hardened up? Before he had some setbacks? Before he put on this cynical coat? What got him there?”
The Han Solo flick is scheduled for release May 25, 2018.
