That screaming you hear coming from a galaxy far, far away is the Na’vi. Starkiller Base just zapped Pandora.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will pass the 2009 blockbuster “Avatar” on Wednesday to become the biggest box office hit of all time in North America. Released just 20 days ago, “The Force Awakens” will eclipse “Avatar’s” record earnings of $760.5 million and begin to set its sights on the global title.

Overtaking “Avatar” as the world’s richest film ever will prove to be a bigger test. The James Cameron fantasy flick sits at No. 1 with $2.78 billion in earnings. The seventh offering in the Star Wars franchise, directed by J.J. Abrams, has so far pulled in $1.56 billion. It did take seven months and a re-release in theaters for “Avatar” to achieve its mark.

The Los Angeles Times notes that analysts predict “The Force Awakens” will make more than $2 billion globally, something only “Avatar” and “Titanic” have achieved. Last summer’s “Jurassic World” is the only other picture ahead of Star Wars, with $1.67 billion at the box office.

“Avatar” and “The Force Awakens” are alone as the only films to have ever made $700 million in North America.
