Is it December yet? Because if you’re a Star Wars geek, or a cinematography geek, or just a movie geek, it’s abundantly clear that we should just jump right past Halloween and Thanksgiving and head for Dec. 16, the premiere date of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”

The second trailer for the Star Wars spinoff landed Thursday and it’s as enticing and beautiful to look at as anything we could hope for out of the Lucas universe. And, it has Darth Vader.

A new poster for the film is also out. Take a look at star Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso) and her comrades in the Rebellion as the Death Star looms — with Vader’s face in it.

As we noted when behind-the-scenes footage was shared by director Gareth Edwards back in July, the film just looks darker and grittier than anything we’ve become accustomed to in the family of sci-fi classics.

One-liners and goofy aliens and cuddly Ewoks are just fine as the touchstones of our childhood. But something about “Rogue One,” at least so far as we can tell from the trailers, is looking like the Star Wars film of our adulthood.

As Jyn Erso says in the trailer: “We have hope.”
