The Wall Street Journal reported today that Bellevue-based Ignition Partners has invested in Docker, the San Francisco-based company that helps developers to build, ship and run distributed applications with its open platform.

Ignition participated in Docker’s Series D round, which was first announced this past April and reportedly valued the company at more than $1 billion.

The Journal noted that Ignition Managing Director Frank Artale has connections to engineers at Unikernal Systems, which was acquired by Docker last week.

Ignition has backed similar cloud computing startups such as Chef, Couchbase, Heroku and others.
