This week on the GeekWire radio show and podcast, we’re joined by Carol Rava, the new CEO of the Seattle-based Technology Alliance, who shares her perspective on education, investing and the impact of the tech industry on the broader region.

Rava was named Tech Alliance CEO earlier this year, replacing Susannah Malarkey, who held the CEO role since the organization was formed in 1996. Rava previously co-launched Get Schooled, a digital and game-based platform to motivate low-income teens to graduate from high school and go on to college. She’s also the former executive director of strategic planning and partnerships at Seattle Public Schools and deputy director of education at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Our conversation starts in the second segment of the show below. It comes in advance of the Tech Alliance’s annual State of Technology luncheon in downtown Seattle on Monday, featuring Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

The show begins with a rundown of some of the top finalists for the GeekWire Awards, and our GeekWire Trivia Challenge returns with a chance to win a pair of tickets to the upcoming GeekWire Awards event, May 12 at EMP in Seattle.
