Inside Amazon's fulfillment center in DuPont, Wash.
Inside Amazon’s fulfillment center in DuPont, Wash., another eighth-generation facility.

Amazon has started hiring to fill more than 1,200 new jobs at an upcoming fulfillment center in Kent., Wash., south of Seattle. It’s one of the company’s eighth-generation fulfillment centers, with advanced automation technologies, so it’s evidence that robots haven’t replaced humans yet.

It’s the third robotics fulfillment center in western Washington, joining existing facilities in Sumner and DuPont. The company says the facility will specialize in smaller customer orders, such as books, electronics and toys.

There’s no official word yet on the opening day for the building, but Amazon says the timeline is moving quickly.
