Re/code reported today that Michelle Phan, a YouTube celebrity who produces beauty and makeup-related videos, is bringing her Icon Network app to Amazon’s Fire TV platform.

Having a presence on Amazon certainly provides an opportunity for online stars like Phan to make more money, while also helping Amazon attract more viewers to its platform. Re/code noted how Seattle-based gadget review vlogger Andru Edwards did something similar when he started making videos on Amazon.

A video technology company called Beachfront Media worked with Phan to build the Fire TV app. Beachfront also helped other popular YouTube channels like Dormtainment and WatchMojo move their content to Amazon.

Having people like Phan come to its platform is good news for Amazon, which sells a $99 Fire TV box and a $39 Fire TV stick. Amazon earlier this month announced that it has added more than 600 options to the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick in the last three months.

Amazon now has more than 1,600 different channels, apps and games on its streaming devices. The company faces stiff competition in the streaming space from other services like Apple TV, Roku, and Google Chromecast.
