Dang. You know you’ve made it when you are trading in your old kayak for a nicer kayak.

Life in Seattle is much different than it was long before the days of the Tech Explosion. And this YouTube video from the spekulation channel, written and edited by Matt “Spek” Watson, shows us just how so in this funny parody of an Amazon recruitment video called “Real Life in Seattle.”

“After watching Amazon’s recruitment video the other day, I couldn’t help but think it sounded a little inaccurate,” the filmmakers wrote on YouTube. “So we went ahead and made our own.”

The parody is filled with some pretty choice lines about living in our fair city, including enjoying the “proximity to Bellevue” and how the escalating rents are pushing lower-income residents out: “I really like the neighborhoods of Seattle, and how we’ve been able to keep the poor people segregated from the rest of us,” says one chipper young woman.

Sure, we don’t have our own Portlandia to poke fun at how messed up our scene is. Maybe it’s time, yes?
