The waiting is the hardest part…and the wait is almost over for some lucky drivers. Tesla announced that its Model X will be rolling out Sept. 29.
Elon Musk announced the event via Twitter a few weeks back, and as Mashable reports, the automaker also sent out invites to the press this a.m. for the grand affair:
First production cars will be handed over on Sept 29 at our Fremont factory

The SUV Model X is a most highly anticipated vehicle, with gawkers getting an eyeful of test models cruising around Silicon Valley earlier this year and posting those drives online for car enthusiasts. Looks like Christmas is coming a little early for a fortunate few who pre-ordered back in the day.
You can still order a Model X, of course, but delivery won’t happen until 2016. Still, it might be a small price to pay — of course, with the actual price tag that starts around $80,000 and swelling well into the six figures when fully loaded — for the Model X with its cool Falcon Wing doors that go up Back to the Future style.
Anyone got an invite to the Sept. 29 event at Tesla’s HQ in Fremont, Calif.?
We’d love to know.
