superbowl111While the Seahawks suffered a gut-wrenching blow to their Super Bowl dreams last night, one thing is emerging a big winner and that’s the TV ratings for last night’s game.

According to this early report by Hitfix, Super Bowl XLIX is set to be the most-watched TV show in history. NBC will release official numbers later today, but the entertainment site is already reporting that “NBC estimates have the Patriots’ victory over the Seahawks up by 4 percent from last year’s game and up 3 percent over the 2013 Super Bowl, the previous record-holder.”

All data is coming from preliminary Fast National Nielsen data, which includes live and same-day DVR viewing, according to Hitfix. So far, among adults, ages 18-49, NBC averaged a 30.9 rating Sunday during prime time, more than 20 times that of ABC, FOX and CBS combined, averaging 89.79 million viewers.

Since this represents the last two Super Bowls, maybe it has something to do with Seattle’s 12th man watching?
