Fans of the 2001 cult hit Wet Hot American Summer can rejoice. Netflix has committed to making eight episodes of the ridiculous romp through a summer camp and all the hijinks that ensue.
The return of the film to the small screen will also include almost every original cast member: Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Ken Marino, David Hyde Pierce, Christopher Meloni, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter.
Deadline reports that the deal is a result of creator David Wain’s “long quest” to get it made on Netflix. Wain and Showalter wrote the original film and will create the eight episodes with Wain directing.
No word on whether short-shorts are in everyone’s contract.
