JeffWeiner1SAN FRANCISCO – Some Trulia employees who were laid off following the close of the company’s acquisition by Zillow may have a new home in LinkedIn. Jeff Weiner, the CEO of the professional social networking company, revealed during an interview on stage at the Launch Festival in San Francisco today that he has been in touch with Trulia President Paul Levine after the acquisition closed.

Weiner said that he was inspired to reach out after Levine made a post to LinkedIn announcing the completed acquisition.

Once the deal closed, he came on LinkedIn and he shared an update announcing that it closed, and at the same time, rather than just be celebratory, he mentioned that as many as 400 people at Trulia would be transitioning out. So, when I saw that, I said ‘Paul, congrats on getting the deal closed. I hope everyone’s doing okay.’

He responded to me, publicly, ‘Hey, thank you for your note, and please let me know if you are looking for anyone who might be transitioning out.’

We took that public conversation private, continued it, I introduced him to our head of recruiting, and we’re going to see what we can do.

It’s another move that may help Trulia’s ex-employees find a home, though it’s not clear what roles LinkedIn is hiring for. Trulia held a career fair for the more than 100 employees laid off from its Bellevue office last month following the acquisition.
