Is it possible for actor Idris Elba to get any cooler?

Not only is he in talks to play a main villain role in Star Trek 3, the British actor just broke a land-speed record. In a Bentley.

In a company statement, Bentley writes that Elba broke the 88-year-old record, going 180.361 mph in the new Continental GT Speed, breaking the “Flying Mile” UK land-speed record set by Sir Malcolm Campbell in 1927. Campbell hit speeds of up to 174.8 mph in his Napier-Campbell Blue Bird.

Elba, if you didn’t know, has played some major badass characters, including Nelson Mandela in Mandela, and one of the drug kingpins in HBO’s iconic series The Wire. The Bentley event was captured as part of a four-part Discovery Channel series coming in July called Idris Elba: No Limits.

For the car junkies out there, here are some deets on the Bentley: The Continental GT has a 6-liter, twin-turbo W12 engine, and can go zero to 60 in four seconds (Tesla’s Model S P85D still beats it at zero to 60 in 3.2). The Bentley can reach top speeds of about 206 mph.

The only thing as cool as this today? Winning a GeekWire Award tonight at our event at EMP.
