Treasure Trunk - GeekWire Summit 2015

Update: All six credits have been claimed. Thanks to everyone who participated! See the solution below.

We had a lot of fun at the recent GeekWire Summit with a challenge we called the “Treasure Trunk.” (Regular readers will get the joke.) On each day of the event, we filled a giant trunk with prizes, and gave attendees a puzzle that led to a secret combo to unlock the trunk.

Attendees who cracked the code were able to take one prize out of the trunk — ranging from shirts and books to high-tech gadgets and lottery tickets. (A big thanks to sponsors Hughes Media Law Group and Lending Robot for contributing prizes and making the Treasure Trunk possible.)

In fact, it was so much fun that we decided to extend the challenge to GeekWire readers in virtual form.

Here’s how it works: Solve the puzzle below to come up with a four-digit code. The first six people will be able to use that code for a credit of $50 on the GeekWire Deals site — full of gadgets and gear, plus online classes and other great stuff. When you check out, you’ll see the option to enter a promo code. That’s where you put the four-digit code.

The puzzle will give you a statement that will lead you to a four-digit code that the first six people can each use for a $50 credit at the GeekWire Deals store, by entering those four digits as the promo code when you check out.

Thanks to Roy Leban of puzzle technology startup Puzzazz for coming up with this puzzle. We’ll run this contest through Friday night, Oct. 23, and we’ll provide more clues later in the week if it proves to be a stumper.

(GeekWire Summit attendees will have an advantage, having seen the puzzle before. Consider it one of the perks of attending.)

We’ll be bringing back the real Treasure Trunk, with a new puzzle, for the GeekWire Gala, our big holiday party on Dec. 2 at MOHAI in Seattle. Grab your tickets here, and looking forward to seeing you there!

Update, Wednesday afternoon: All six credits have been claimed. Thanks to everyone who participated. Here’s the solution to the puzzle, leading to the code 2045.
