Amazon is tripling the number of items that qualify for free shipping. The Seattle e-commerce giant started alerting customers and sellers to the changes this morning.

Going forward, Amazon said it will be easier for customers to achieve a minimum order threshold of $35 in order to qualify for free shipping. That’s because it is no longer requiring all of the items being purchased to come from the same seller.

Before all of the items in a customer’s basket were required to come from the same party in order to meet the $35 minimum, but now, a customer can mix and match items, perhaps choosing a coffee grinder from Amazon and a bag of coffee from a third-party seller to qualify.

“This free shipping expansion more than triples the millions of items eligible to contribute for free shipping,” Amazon said, in a statement.

Not all sell-fulfilled items will qualify. Customers will be able to discover which items contribute to the minimum order for free shipping as all eligible items will have a “FREE Shipping” message on the product page.
