uberpedalUber wants to offer a helping hand to bike riders.

The company is launching a new service called UberPedal in Seattle on Friday and will equip some of its uberX vehicles with bike racks that can fit two bicycles.

For an extra $5, those who’d rather ride in a car than pedal can select the “Promotions” tab in the Uber app and apply the promo code “PEDAL” to unlock the UberPedal vehicle view. Users then slide the button to uberX and select the “pedal” option to see available uberX vehicles that have a bike rack.

Uber partnered with Wisconsin-based Saris for the bike racks. The company asks riders to make sure they’re in an area “where the driver has room to safely pull over” when requesting an UberPedal.

This looks like the first time Uber has offered a way for bike riders to attach their bicycles to an uberX vehicle. The feature becomes available just days before Seattle’s new bike-share program launches on Oct. 13.
