T-Mobile CEO John Legere speaks at the carrier’s CES press conference on Wednesday in Las Vegas.

T-Mobile USA today announced that it added 1.6 million customers in the fourth quarter of 2013 — a huge improvement from the 32,000 customers the mobile carrier lost at this time last year.

The Bellevue-based company added even more customers than in the third quarter, when one million people signed up for the service. T-Mobile brought on 4.4 million customers to its service in 2013 alone.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere made the announcement today during the company’s press conference at CES in Las Vegas, where he also noted that T-Mobile now has the best 4G LTE coverage and laid out a new promotion that offers up to $650 to customers who switch from a rival carrier.
