As November approaches quickly, Microsoft Bing today launched a new election portal that aims to help inform citizens of issues and predict results.

bingpredictselection21At Bing.com/election, you’ll now find a bevy of information related to local and national elections from news to polls to candidate positions to predictions for both congressional and gubernatorial races. There will also be “My Ballot” feature coming soon that include information like the nearest polling station.

“Politics aside, our goal with Bing Elections and the personalized Voter Guide is to arm voters so they can make decisions based on the most comprehensive and best information available,” wrote Bing Corporate VP Derrick Connell. “Whether it’s the senate race at the national level or a proposition affecting your city, we’re hoping to give you the confidence to make the most out of your vote.”

The predictions are based on the Bing Predicts algorithm, which uses search, social, and other data to make an educated guess at who will win an election. Bing already does this with sports and TV show predictions.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has built technology around elections. Back in 2012, the company rolled out an interactive polling feature on Xbox Live will let people viewing live debates answer questions and see poll results in real time on the screen.

During that same time, Google also launched its own Voter Information Tool. The search giant released something similar last week that helps people learn how to vote.
