Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos suffered a kidney stone on New Year’s Day while vacationing in the Galapagos Islands and was rescued by the Ecuadorian Navy.
Galapagos Digital cited two Ecuadorian news websites, which reported that a Ecuadorian Navy helicopter airlifted Bezos from a cruise ship in Santa Cruz Island’s Academy Bay to his private jet on Baltra Island. The Amazon founder then flew to the U.S. for emergency treatment.
We reached out to Amazon, and here’s what a company spokesperson told us:
I sent Jeff your note and here’s what he sent back: “Galapagos: five stars. Kidney stones: zero stars.”
Well, at least the rest of his vacation went well.
