Earlier this year an interviewer asked WhitePages CEO Alex Algard how he finds and keeps talent.
“We’re so small and every employee makes such a big impact because of that ratio of relatively few employees compared to a very large audience,” he replied. “We just can’t over invest in keeping our employees happy.”
Algard also discussed the importance of creating a fun and collaborative work environment. Last year WhitePages gave GeekWire a tour of its remodeled offices, complete with a kegerator and hydraulic desks.
“I think our team is going to grow a lot over the next year,” Algard said.
That growth is already underway. WhitePages has several openings on GeekWork, GeekWire’s jobs site, including an Enterprise Account Manager position. This manager will be responsible for providing customer service to a portfolio of large enterprise accounts. Other responsibilities include working with marketing to drive revenue, negotiating contracts, and analyzing data to create trend reports.
This is an executive level position that involves traveling up to 40% of the time. Candidates with eight or more years of experience and a related degree can apply here.
(And as long as you’re job hunting, another good resource is the GeekWire 200 ranking of top technology startups in the Pacific Northwest, and the related GeekWire Startup List database of more than 800 companies. Both can be filtered by category to narrow down your search.)
The company is well-positioned to grow and take on new talent. Among other positions, INRIX has an opening for an experienced executive. The Chief Marketing Officer will be responsible for defining INRIX’s overall product strategy, business development, partnering with the engineering department to deliver new products, and leading public relations efforts. At least ten years of relevant experience, previous CMO experience, and a bachelor’s degree are required to apply.
Last month Zillow posted a 40 percent increase in annual traffic, but it doesn’t plan to stop there. The company is looking for a senior leader to help its growth team continue to attract new users and boost site engagement. The Senior Program Manager will build new products and interact with employees from every department in the company.
Applicants with at least five years of program management experience and a bachelor’s degree in a technical field will be considered. Zillow is offering a comprehensive benefits package. Plus the company has been known to provide added perks, like the 1,200 Kindle Fire tablets employees received for the holidays.
Seattle’s daily newspaper is looking for an experienced product manager to shape advertising strategies for digital and print. The product manager will also inform media planning and pricing, evaluate new market opportunities and work closely with the company’s business intelligence department.
Five or more years of digital product experience and a working knowledge of advertising technologies and applications are required. An MBA or applied science graduate degree is preferred.
