OK, Sounders fans. Match day is almost here. The second annual GeekWire Sounders Day — hosted on the amazing rooftop deck of EMC/Isilon — will kick off at 4 p.m. sharp on Wednesday afternoon before the Seattle Sounders FC face off against the San Jose Earthquakes.
Yep, we’re taking on those silly geeks to the south, and we’re ready to show them what Seattle is all about on and off the pitch.
We’re expecting a big crowd on Wednesday afternoon, and the tickets for the pre-game party and the match are now sold out. (Sorry, folks. Don’t snooze again, and make sure to get your early-bird tickets for the GeekWire Summit on Oct. 2).
Here are some of the key logistical details you’ll need to know for Wednesday’s festivities.
Location: EMC/Isilon, 505 1st Avenue South, Suite 600. Registration will be on the 6th floor, and staffers from EMC/Isilon will escort guests to the rooftop deck via elevators and stairs.
Tickets: If you pre-ordered tickets to the Sounders match through GeekWire, you must pick up your match tickets from us at the pre-game event at EMC/Isilon. The first 50 people who signed up for tickets in the GeekWire section also will be given a limited-edition soccer scarf.
Food and beverages: We’ve got an awesome BBQ planned, as well as a fantastic array of microbrews. Come hungry, and thirsty!
Schedule: Arrive early! We’ve got a sold out crowd, so make sure to plan accordingly to navigate Pioneer Square on a Sounders’ game day. We will open registration at 3:45 p.m. Sounders GM Adrian Hanauer is scheduled to speak shortly after 5 p.m. That will be followed by drawings for some amazing prizes, including an awesome prize package from the Sounders; one Google Glass device from EMC/Isilon and GeekWire Summit tickets. By 6:30 p.m., we will start making our way to the match. Kickoff is 7 p.m. The GeekWire section is located in the Hawks Nest, so the north entrance is the preferred entry point. Again, if you ordered your match tickets through GeekWire, you must first pick them up at the pre-game event at EMC/Isilon. (Note: You must arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. in order to obtain your tickets).
Parking: You are on your own. Street parking and surface lots are located near EMC/Isilon. There also is paid parking available in the EMC/Isilon building. Public transportation is recommended. It’s a game day, so arrive early.
