Nintendo has been through a difficult period in the home console business, with a rough reception for its Wii U console following the breakout success of the original Wii. But the iconic video-game company, whose North American headquarters are right here in Redmond, is known for one thing — great games.

If you have children (or you’re just a kid at heart) you won’t want to miss the Play Nintendo Tour, beginning Friday July 18. This three-day traveling video game playground will be hosted by Bite of Seattle, the Pacific Northwest’s premier food festival at the Seattle Center.

Seattleites of all ages are invited to play games, explore themed zones, and meet their favorite characters. Players can also join the Mario Kart 7 racing competition. Qualifying winners will have the opportunity to race on the big screen in recently released Mario Kart 8.
