Elisa Steele, the former Chief Marketing officer of Skype, has been appointed president of Jive Software, the business software company that was a darling of Portland’s tech scene before moving to Silicon Valley. Steele, who most recently served as the company’s top marketing executive, was appointed to the job after Tony Zingale, Jive’s CEO, stepped down from the company’s top office today.

The company is looking for a full-time CEO, and it has hired an executive search firm to assist in the process.

Zingale will remain as the company’s Executive Chairman, and the company will begin searching for a new CEO to fill his shoes. The company garnered interest from Wall Street at the time of its $100 million IPO in 2011. Since then, Jive has fallen on hard times, reporting quarterly losses and reportedly seeking out a sale to a larger firm.

Today’s news came alongside a quarterly earnings report that came in above Wall Street’s expectations, with the company reporting revenue of $46.6 million. Jive’s quarterly loss of 4 cents a share was significantly better than the 9 cents per share loss that analysts expected.

The stock rose 18 percent in after hours trading. It now has a market value of $424 million.
