twitterIf you want ways to get more people re-tweeting your content, Twitter has some advice.

The social media giant analyzed troves of its data from verified users in the U.S. to figure out what exactly attracts more retweets.

Photos, videos and quotes were the most-retweeted types of content across all categories. Twitter grouped its findings into different subsets — TV, News, Government & Politics, Sports, Music — and found that high engagement strategies depend on the topic you’re tweeting about.

For example, while photo URLs were most retweeted for news-related content, quotes came out on top for TV-related content.

Though adding content like photo and video links increases engagement, Twitter adds that there’s a lot more that goes into creating a loyal following.

“So while the measures detailed above can bring immediate rewards, they are not the end of the story,” Twitter noted. “It’s the difference between only reading a page or finishing the whole novel: only one will give you the complete picture.”
