As a part of Sony’s press conference at Gamescom today, Bungie unveiled some new details about content for “Destiny,” its forthcoming first-person shooter. First off, the company released a new trailer showing off the different Crucible competitive multiplayer modes that players will be able to try out, including a number of takes on standard FPS standbys.

The game will feature six different competitive multiplayer modes, including Skirmish, a 3v3 team game that focuses on close teamwork; Rumble, a free for all; Clash, a 6v6 team battle; Control, Destiny’s take on the zone defense genre of multiplayer battles; and Salvage, a 3v3 mode that requires teams to defend relics while battling one another.

On the surface, it looks like a wide selection of modes that should satisfy most competitive shooter players.

In addition to that news, the company also announced that its first expansion for the game, entitled “The Dark Below,” will be released in December, just three months after the game’s first release.

As a part of Bungie’s ongoing partnership with Sony, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 owners will get early access to the content in the expansion before their counterparts on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. PS4 owners will get exclusive access to a multiplayer map called “Blue Exodus” as well.

Users who want access to the additional content will be able to purchase it when it’s released. People who want to pay now can pick up an “Expansion Pass” with one of the special edition bundles currently available for pre-order, which offers access to the first two expansions Bungie plans to release.
