naughtynice1From the folks who earlier this year brought us the list of the most foul-mouthed Americans (yes, my home state of Ohio is frickin’ No. 1) here comes the latest in expletive-tossing.

Marchex, the Seattle mobile advertising company, has put together a list of the industries that get cussed out the most on the phone. The study looked at 20 service-related industries and analyzed 1.2 million consumer calls from March 2012 to November 2013.

And, not a surprise to us, two tech-oriented industries are near the top of the list.

Satellite TV and Internet companies get cussed out more than any other, with one out of 82 calls containing an expletive. Not too far behind are cable companies (which have certainly received a few f-bombs from me over the years). They got a cuss word in one out of every 123 conversations.

Interestingly, 64 percent of the conversations that included a curse word were from men; while 36 percent were from women.

“Consumers expect great service and easy-to-understand pricing from national and local businesses, and they aren’t afraid to voice their displeasure when they don’t receive it,” said John Busby, Senior Vice President of the Marchex Institute, in a statement.
