wright-murray—Zones has named Murray Wright as its new CEO effective September 1, replacing Firoz Lalji who will remain as chairman. Lalji also will take on the role of chief strategy officer. Wright most recently served as president of the Americas, at IT distributor Tech Data Corporation, and before that worked at Lenovo Canada and Ingram Micro Canada. “With a proven track record of scaling IT-centric businesses and an unsurpassed understanding of the channel and partner ecosystems, Murray is the natural choice to lead Zones to the next level of accelerated growth,” said Lalji, who has served as CEO since 1998. “We welcome Murray to the company and look forward to the positive impact he is sure to have on the organization as a whole.” Zones is a reseller of technology products for businesses.

—Zillow has promoted Kathleen Philips to the position of chief operating officer, a new position at the online real estate company. She had previously served as general counsel at the company, which she joined in 2010. Philips played a key role in the company’s July 2011 initial public offering as well as its recent M&A activities.

Philips also runs the company’s San Francisco offices, which have grown to 65 employees. She previously served as general counsel at FanSnap, a venture-backed ticket search engine, and HotWire.com, an online travel company where Rascoff previously worked.
