rootmetrics12Bellevue-based RootMetrics is out with its 2012 mobile carrier performance review and it shows good news for all four of the nation’s big carriers, with download speeds up and fewer calls dropped.

Verizon, though, took the cake for data, text and call speed ratings. AT&T was not far behind, and T-Mobile came in third for overall speeds. Much of that had to do with each carriers’s high-speed LTE network, with Verizon and Sprint paving the way in that area. T-Mobile is just starting to roll out its LTE network.

For the study, RootMetrics ran more than two million tests across 78 U.S. metropolitan markets. You can check out how carriers perform in your city here.

Another report from RootMetrics from March showed AT&T with the fastest LTE network.
