I’ve had a tough time getting into the show Portlandia, with aspects of it making me feel, well, a bit uncomfortable. I enjoyed the show’s opening Dream of the 90s video. But since then, I think the Portlandia has been more miss than hit. Now, here comes a mock public service announcement from the show that got me to chuckle a bit.
Featuring “actual nerd” Brian P., it takes a swipe at all of those hipsters who think being a nerd is so cool.
“I am not wearing a nerd costume for Halloween …. This is how I actually dress,” notes Brian, adding that he’s not skinny enough to fit into hip jeans and wears glasses so he can actually see.
“A real nerd is ashamed to be called a nerd,” says Brian. “So, please, get real, if you are not a nerd, don’t call yourself one.”
