Paul Allen, the Microsoft co-founder, Jimi Hendrix aficionado and avid guitar player, is coming out with a new album in August — and he has some pretty impressive collaborators helping him out.

allenalbumChrissie Hynde, Joe Walsh, and Anne and Nancy Wilson of Heart are among the big names who perform with Allen and latest his band, “the Underthinkers” on the album, called “Everywhere at Once.”

Legacy Recordings announced the album’s Aug. 6 release date this morning, promising a “13-song program of blues-based rock nuggets.”

Allen wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album. One of them, Divine, was released last year and as part of the soundtrack for the stripper movie, “Magic Mike.”

Here’s that song.

The album is available for pre-order on Amazon. Proceeds will help fund the EMP Museum, Allen’s non-profit rock and pop-culture museum at Seattle Center.

This is Allen’s second album, following up on a 2000 release by his previous band, Grown Men. Is Allen really that good? He might surprise you. Here’s an audience member’s clip of him playing at EMP last year.
