geekwirecalendarPhew! That was some night last night! Thanks all who made it out to the GeekWire Awards, we sure loved having you! Pictures and results are up on the site. And speaking of events, let’s look at what’s coming up in this week’s pick’s from the GeekWire Calendar! We’ve got some very far out events — Toonie Awards and a terrible movie experience here in Seattle, and both UFO and Animation festivals in Oregon, check ’em out!

Cartoonists Northwest 22nd Annual Toonie Award Banquet: Seattle: Saturday 5/11 6pm. This sounds like an interesting one. The cartoonist scene is pretty large and greatly talented in the PNW, with names like Peter Bagge and David Lasky, there should be some cool folks here.

Enematic Cinematic: Seattle: Tuesday 5/14 7:30pm. This little gem happens every 2nd Tuesday in Fremont and you don’t
want to miss it! Watch a crappy movie and drink beer with friends, what could be better? How about sticking around for the live taping of the podcast after? These are an actual blast, see you there.

Amazon Trivia Night: Seattle: Wednesday 5/15 6pm. Ohhh! This sounds really fun! Food, drink and bar trivia! Plus chances to win cool prizes like a kindle and Amazon giftcards! Brush up on your comp sci before going…

UFO Fest: McMinnville OR: Friday and Saturday 5/17, 5/18 all day. AWESOME! This is the 2nd largest Alien festival in the US and it’s right here in our backyard! Tons of groovy alien fun for the whole fam! First-hand accounts of UFO and alien encounters! THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE! iwanttobelieve

Northwest Animation Festival: Portland: Friday, Sat and Sun 5/17, 5/18 and 5/19. Full weekend of the best new animation from around the world! Sounds very cool. With over 150 films from all sub genres, this is the biggest animation show in the USA.
