‘Tis the season to get geeky. And give back!

childrens44We’re getting excited for the geekiest holiday bash of the season, with more than 800 expected at the big GeekWire Gala next Wednesday at the fabulously festive Museum of History & Industry in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. And while we’ll raise a toast to an exciting year in technology; honor some of the most important Newsmakers of the Year and celebrate the unveiling of the giant cocktail napkins from the Seattle 10, this event is extra special in part because it’s a chance for the tech community to rally behind our annual Geeks Give Back campaign.

This year, we’ve partnered with Seattle Children’s Research Institute, one of the top pediatric research organizations in the country. Funds that we raise will go directly to The Research Discovery Fund, providing funding for highly promising research projects that might not otherwise move forward and supporting the next generation of research-scientists.

geekgala4It’s an important cause, and GeekWire is proud to ally with the Seattle Children’s Research Institute on it.

There are a few ways you can get involved this year. When you purchase your ticket to the Gala, you will be prompted to donate during the checkout process.

If you’ve already purchased your ticket, you can donate at the Gala on December 4th by bringing a check or visiting the Seattle Children’s Research Institute booth.

Make checks out to Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation, and write in the memo box “Geeks Give Back.” All gifts are tax deductible.

geeksgivebackAs a special perk, any person or company who donates $1,000 or more to the Geeks Give Back campaign this year will be honored on our “Charitable Wall of Fame” in a recap post on GeekWire.

So, here we go geeks. Let’s show what the tech community is all about on Dec. 4th by raising some cash for Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the Gala here, and remember to make that pledge at checkout!
