I’ve been known to impress my colleagues by whipping up a wicked graphic or logo in Microsoft Excel from time to time, but holy crap, check out this video of a graphic designer using Microsoft Word to replicate the appearance of Apple’s iOS 7.

This is an accelerated highlight reel from an in-depth series of these videos. The creator, Vaclav Krejci, says on his YouTube about page that his mission is to “explain graphic design to everyday users using software they are already familiar with.”

He’s also promoting an e-book on the “7 Best Text Effects in Microsoft Word” and offering sample .docx files for download.

It could be taken as a commentary on the simplicity of iOS 7, or the capabilities of Microsoft Office, but either way, it’s mesmerizing.
