2013_mac_proFor people looking to put together a Mac with some serious horsepower under the hood, the launch of Apple’s Mac Pro is an important event. The company said in October that the powerful Mac desktop would be available for purchase in December, starting at a lofty price tag of $2,999. Now, interested buyers can get one … in a couple months.

The monolithic cylinder made its appearance on Apple’s online store this morning, and within hours of its launch had its availability pushed back until February. For those people looking to create a custom machine that suits their needs, it’s going to be a long wait as Apple manufactures the Mac Pro at its facility in Austin, Texas.

For their money, buyers are getting the ability to build a Mac with an Intel Xeon E5 processor, up to 1 terabyte of flash storage, and a pair of workstation-class GPUs that can drive three 4K displays at once. It’s definitely not a computer for the faint of heart.
