Here’s what journalism actually looks like. Hats off to Marketplace Shanghai Bureau Chief Rob Schmitz who follows up his truth-squadding of playwright Mike Daisey’s play, The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, with this first-hand account of life at the massive Foxconn manufacturing center in China.

According to Marketplace, Schmitz is only the second reporter to gain access to the factory floor at Apple’s Chinese supplier.

The report comes after Schmitz uncovered numerous lies and inaccuracies in Daisey’s monologue and media subsequent appearances, reporting that led to the popular radio program This American Life retracting an entire episode that featured Daisey.
