A Redmond company by the name of WebTuner, led by former InfoSpace executive Bernee Strom, has landed $7.4 million in equity financing, according to a SEC filing.

I’ve been unable to track down a company Web site, and this LinkedIn page only offers a smattering of evidence about what the company is doing.

“WebTuner supplies software infrastructure for the next generation video distribution networks,” the Web page says.

When I reached out to the company two years ago, WebTuner executive Arthur Vaysman declined to offer details on what they are doing. Vaysman previously co-founded NetScaler, which sold to Citrix for $325 million in 2005.

Strom is the former president and chief operating officer at InfoSpace, and a former executive at Gemstar-TV Guide.

Also listed as directors in the filing are Eduard Zaslavsky and William Elkus. It is unclear to us whether William Elkus is the same person who serves as managing director of Clearstone Venture Partners, a venture capitalist who has served on the boards of companies such as PayPal, United Online and Overture.

We’ve reached out to the company, and we’ll update as we learn more.

Nonetheless, a $7 million round for a stealthy startup is nothing to sneeze at, so if anyone else has details on what this company is up to, please share them in the comments.
