The “Featured Apps” slots in the Google Play store are prime real estate for Android apps, and two Seattle companies are enjoying the extra visibility this week — a nice little coup for the region’s tech community.

Both Current Caller ID and Dwellable are front and center under the “Staff Picks” section on the Google Play store for Android devices. Being a “Staff Pick” is certainly a big deal in terms of driving downloads and spreading the word.

Dwellable is an independent vacation rental search site recently named one of the top 10 best travel apps for the iPad by CNN. Dwellable CEO Brenda Spoonemore recently spoke at GeekWire’s Startup Day. The app is available both on Android and iPhone devices.

Current Caller ID  from WhitePages displays not only the name of callers, but their recent social media status updates and information from their location, such as weather and news. The app made its debut less than two months ago in the Google Play store. It’s only available for Android, not iOS, because Apple doesn’t give developers access to the underlying call log.
