Is there anything geekier than this? Microsoft is planning a series of parties at its retail stores on the night of April 2nd to celebrate the launch of the new Kinect Star Wars game for Xbox 360.

“Join us for a fun-filled launch party at the Microsoft Store, starting at 10 p.m. on Monday, April 2nd. Dres up in your finest Star Wars gear, play the game early and meet special guests,” according to a notice sent out today.

Microsoft plans to start selling copies of the game at 12:01 a.m. on April 3rd, with additional activities at the stores later in the day. We’re told that parties will be held at both the University Village and Bellevue Square stores in the Seattle area. The game — developed by Terminal Reality — sells for $50.

So, dust off your lightsaber or don your Darth Vader mask and get ready to party.

Wonder if they’ll be busting this out while folks wait in line, an old-fashioned dance-off with some Storm Troopers.
