Photo editing upstart Aviary has reeled in $6 million in new funding from Bezos Expeditions, the venture arm of Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, Spark Capital and others. All Things D reports that Aviary is now used by eight million people, with more than 100 million photos edited via the tool in the past 30 days.

“Aviary’s growth over the past year has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Mo Koyfman, General Partner of Spark Capital in a press release. “As the mobile photo category continues to explode, Aviary is poised to become the photo editing and creativity solution of choice for developers looking to deliver best of breed photo experiences to their consumers.”

The company was founded in 2007 by Iz Derdik and Avi Muchnick, and is based in New York. Bezos was a previous backer of the startup, participating in a venture round three years ago
