The Laurelhurst home of Amazon.com Vice President of Product Management Adam Selipsky exploded in flames today, sending one of the construction workers who was working on the home to Harborview Medical Center. The explosion occurred at 4 p.m., and some neighbors described the blast as feeling like an earthquake.

Selipsky has worked at Amazon for seven years, and before that held an executive role at RealNetworks.

According to KING 5, the home was under construction, and about 85 percent complete when the fire broke out.. The Selipsky family had not yet occupied the home, and the flames and smoke from the fire could be seen from as far away as Kirkland and the state route 520 bridge.

The home was located in Seattle’s tony Laurelhurst neighborhood, and the 3,100 square-foot property had an estimated value of $3.2 million, according to Zillow. It is considered a total loss. UPDATE: We’re told that the neighboring home of F5 Networks founder Jeff Hussey was also damaged in the blaze.
