Centri Technology has raised $4.5 million in fresh funding in a deal led by Matthew Pritzker Company. The funds will be used for product development, strategic partnerships and hiring.

Founded in 2009 and led by entrepreneur Vaughan Emery, Centri has developed a technology known as BitSmart that helps companies and mobile operators boost data speeds across various devices. The service also allows companies to implement mobile usage policies and introduce new services.

For example, healthcare companies could use Centri to restrict devices from accessing unapproved content and help meet HIPAA-compliant regulations.

“Centri has the opportunity to significantly improve how data is delivered to connected devices across any network, which is vital in the marketplace today,” said Matthew Pritzker, founder and chairman of the Matthew Pritzker Company.

Centri, which employs 20 people, raised $1.6 million from members of the Alliance of Angels last year.
