Redfin's new CTO Sasha Aickin

Redfin’s top technologist is saying goodbye to the online real estate brokerage after five years on the job. Chief Technology Officer Michael Young recently announced his resignation, handing over the CTO duties to vice president of engineering Sasha Aickin.

At the time of Young’s hiring in December 2006, Kelman called the fellow University of California, Berkeley grad “technically brilliant, unnaturally poised and, above all, fearless.”

It is unclear what Young — who previously worked as a program manager for Microsoft BizTalk Server — plans to do next.

Aickin is based in San Francisco, and has been responsible for building the company’s Bay Area engineering team. According to his LinkedIn bio, Aickin’s primary responsibility has been developing the search user experience for Redfin’s Web site and mobile application.

Both Aickin and Young previously worked at Plumtree Software, a company that Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman co-founded.

Redfin raised a $14.8 million venture capital round in October from Madrona Venture Group, Vulcan Capital, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Greylock Partners, bringing total funding in the company to $46 million.
